Is your site ready to go live?

Before a website is published and live on the internet, it must be accessible to everyone and meet UA guidelines.
Once you have finished adding content to your website, take a few minutes to review the list below, adjusting or correcting as needed. When you can check "Yes" to all items that apply to your site, complete and submit the form below and our office will review and publish the site.

AFTER the site is published the first time, you will be able to publish without our intervention.

Go-Live Checklist

By submitting this form, I agree that I have reviewed my site according to the checklist items above and believe it to be accessible and in accordance with UA web guidelines.

Checklist Item Details

  1. Alt text – Every image that has been added using the Image element, gallery element, or slideshow element must have descriptive alt text provided or “ ” (null field indicator) for decorative-only images. See http://people.ua.edu/alternative-text.html for more information.
  2. Titles – Did you use the Title element for all titles and subject headings? Simply making text (using the Text element) larger and bold, doesn’t make it a title to people using a screen reader. http://people.ua.edu/headings-and-accessibility.html
  3. PDFs – Are uploaded pdfs accessible? Here’s an easy test: open the pdf and try to highlight a section of the text. If you can, then it is accessible. If the entire file highlights, then it’s an image and will need to be converted to text using Adobe Acrobat Pro’s OCR tool. http://people.ua.edu/pdf-documents.html
  4. Links – Do links make sense out of context? Users of assistive technology may navigate your website by tabbing from link to link. http://people.ua.edu/screen-readers-and-links.html
  5. Drop-down menus – If your site contains drop-downs, make sure all links are provided on the top navigation page. See http://people.ua.edu/drop-down-menus-and-accessibility.html for details.
  6. SEO Information – Under the SEO section of the Settings tab, complete the site description and meta keywords. http://people.ua.edu/use-the-seo-tools-in-your-account.html
  7. UA logo in header - The UA logo is required for all websites and must remain.
